Re: LA Rail Revival

The Red Line, which runs underground from LA Union Station to Hollywood
is a heavy rail subway with full size high level platform subway cars.
The Blue Line, which runs from a subway station at 7th & Flower Streets
in downtown LA to Long Beach is a light rail line operating in tunnel,
on city streets, and on the old Pacific Electric right-of-way, and uses
(or can use) light rail cars of two different types. All station stops
are high level platforms, street level loading is not possible. The
Green Line operates in the center of a freeway for most of its' route,
and on a new elevated structure for the balance of the route. It uses
the same cars as the Blue Line. The Blue Line is in the process of
being extended to Pasadena, with completion sometime early in the next
century.
