That may be true, but when you have to be clear of a section to allow for 
other trains the time taken to film a sequence could take days rather than 
hours. The majority of film people wouldn't understand the time you need to be 
clear of a section is when the next train is due to depart the station in the 
rear not when the train gets to where you are filming. Another related aspect 
is setting back for another take, a move which these days requires special 
authority for a "passenger" train.
