Nine sawmills join forces - Bairnsdale nearer to re-opening?

In a groud breaking venture almost half of East Gippsland's sawmill
have united to build a manufacturing operation that will export
high-quality hardwood products.

Nine of the region's 20 mills have thrown aside their traditional
rivalry to form a consortium, Terra Timbers, that will build a plant
on four hectares of industrial land at Bairnsdale...........

.........The operation will be built near the Bairnsdale railway line
as a carrot for rail operators to re-open the disused track to take
the product to port. By re-opening the rail line, the venture would
also be a huge catalyst for economic developement in East
Gippsland......
