Yep, the former Kajabbi branch now terminate at about 2.5 km, about
a 100 metres shy of the Cloncurry river. The Cloncurry river bridge
(known throughout it's life as the Dobbyn Bridge) is now occupied by
a causeway for the western half of the heavy vehicle bypass.
The bridge burnt down under mysterious circumstances about 2 years
before closure, (along with 2 other bridge fires on the branch during
the same week ) ;-)

I goofed with the closing date. It was Jan 01, 1994, not 1995.

The Kajabbi spur is still used for cattle traffic, and about halfway along
is a loading point for copper ore from nearby mines. Yeah, it's pretty busy
for a small country town.

If you ever go through Cloncurry again, i'm in charge of the Q-Link
rail freight depot, pop in and say hi. You may appreciate that there
aren't a lot of rail enthusiasts out my way, especially ones who work
in the railway. ;-) The same goes for anyone actually.... (why do I
think I will regret saying that.....?)
