Sadly Maurie they only re laid Maroona to the 199 KM post with 60 KG
rail the rest of the way to Gheringhap is worn out 49 KG rail on
concrete sleepers.
So consequently the speed will eventually be increased to 100 KMH
115KMH for Passenger trains on the section Ararat to the 199 KM post
This section is all 60 KG rail
The existing 49 KG sections may be increased to 100 KMH after the rail
grinder goes over it BUT there is a union ban still in place with a
blanket 80 KMH speed restriction over ASW lines A/C no distant signals
at loops which already vetoes the section Newport to North Geelong C
to 80 KMH even though ARTC have okayed the section to 115 KMH for
passes
BTW newport to North C is 60 KG on concrete
