True but if you were to catch a train to Cleveland, you would pass through
Wynnum North then Wynnum followed by Wynnum Central stations. I agree with
the need for this station.

Don't you think that is a backward step, reverting to the old "change of
gauge" problems? True, it would be an improvement on the current set up. I
think the ideal situation would be to extend the standard gauge from
Murwillumbah Robina the dual gauge to Roma Street. Run the Murwillumbah XPT
through to Brisbane and divert the Brisbane XPT via Murwillumbah. This would
achieve four goals :-
1.    Two direct services daily Sydney - Brisbane.
2.    Both trains service the Gold Coast.
3.    An alternative route is available when track maintenance is being
carried out.
4.    Multimodal travel eliminated between major cities.

The only passenger stop that would suffer as a result would be Kyogle. A
courtesy bus to or from Casino would fix this.

YES !!!! I agree. More express services are needed.
