Further to my post, just received a message that CRT are to move out of
Bandiana, as part of the Freeway Bypass of Albury will run into Victoria and
through the present siding. It seems that V/Line
(presumably also Freight Victoria) want them to move into a very limited
space at the Coal Siding.
CRT have found the ground to be unstable, and don't wish to make the move.
Albury Yard would suit them down to the ground! It has a working overhead
Gantry (32 tonnes)
Has BG and SG access with most of the infrastructure still in place. Would
lend itself to Road Railer operations, having access to the existing Hume
Highway, and internal By-Pass .
With the Flour Mill about to double its capacity, The Paper Mill just
started to supply To China, and several of the largest Border trucking
operations on the Boundary fence, not to mention Woollen Mills, Borg Warner
etc. etc . A private Consortium might revitalise the yard very quickly
indeed...........
umm......Great place for GNRS to set up....what about it Paul?
