No, the deviation was put in much later, I think when the line was
duplicated (1960s?). There were two such deviations; I've seen them
shown somewhere originally as 'Skeleton Creek' and 'Tarneit'. Later
Hoppers Crossing was built at the 'Skeleton Creek' deviation, but
'Tarneit' still remains.

Speaking of deviations, there are two on the 'new' SG line, one just
past Aircraft, the other between Little River and Lara. What is the
purpose of these?
