Yes it was all the one red colour - definitely not candy.  The number 4801
was painted on in large white lettering.   This colour and enlarged number
certainly wasn't around in 1959 (the telemovie was actually set in the
earlier 1950s) and the shots of single deck electric suburbans showed
Beclawat windows which didn't come in till the 1970s for such stock.
