Another good one happened about 8 or 9 years ago, in the goods office at
Cloncurry. 
(Cloncurry has 2 passenger trains a week)
A couple of tourists were sending something away by rail, and they asked
the clerk in charge "So, you have only 2 trains a week, what do you do the
rest of the time?"
It didn't occur to them that there were freight trains running 7 days a
week.
Even now when people ask how many trains a week we get, and I reply "about
6 a day", they are suprised.
