Pass trains are run by CountryLink, Hoys, Great Southern, V/Line and
West Coast rail.

Countrylink run twice daily XPT between Melbourne and Sydney (XPT is
an Australianised HST).

Hoys run with V/Line equipment.

GSR run the Ghan with an NR class loco (GE 4000hp) and around 14-16
cars into Melbourne at 2110 WedO and out at 2235WedO to/from Adelaide
and Alice Springs on Standard gauge. GSR also run to OverLand betwen
Melb and Adelaide currently hauled by NR class but soon to change to
BL class (3000hp GM). The Overland runs daily except Wednesdays and
Saturdays out of Melb Westbound at 2050 and into Melb Eastbound at

WCR run services between Melb and Warnambool via Geelong thrice daily
