I don't know, but I suspect that a party running on these transport platforms:

(a) Restore the ten-minute, cross-river, ferry service;

(b) Build pedestrian bridges across the river, at the various points that the
ferries used to run, and in a few additional places (Coronation Drive - West
End, for example), removing ferries as this is done;

(c) Remove the irritating obstacles placed in the middle of so many of the
roads;

(d) Fix up road routing to increase access, and reduce the bottlenecks caused
by the extraordinary number of one-way streets;

(e) Build overhead tunnels in the CBD and other places to allow pedestrians
to cross roads with minimal disruption to themselves and to traffic; and

(f) End spending on unnecessary "beautification" and "livable city" projects
which provide no direct service benefit to the city (who cares if it looks
good, so long as it *works*).

would gain considerable support in the local elections.
