AUSTRALIA HOLIDAY

I wrote this itinerary in response to a question about two weeks ago: What
should the poster ride (with no clues as to interests, standard or previous
coverage).  The poster later presented a draft itinerary, which included
Tasmania (including bus Devonport - Hobart) and Canberra.

Here is my effort to meet his rules, and to provide a plan usable by almost
anybody.  It relies on flying into Sydney and out of Perth, and can be
ticketed with a 21 day Austrailpass plus a single Bunbury - Perth.

It gives a mixture of trains types, main and minor lines, preservation and
tourism, and urban transit.

Tues. air - Sydney.  bus - Central.  train - North Sydney - Wynyard -

Wed. Sydney - XPT - Orange - loco-hauled pass. - Broken Hill.
Thurs. Explore the architecture, railway museum, mine tour.
Fri. Broken Hill - Indian Pacific - Adelaide Keswick - Adelaide - Grange -
Adelaide - Keswick - Overland - 
Sat. - Melbourne Spencer St - route 96 tram - St Kilda Beach - route 16
tram - Flinders St - City Circle tram anticlockwise - Flinders St -
