The Minister for Transport quoteth
"The biggest rail construction project in Sydney since Bradfield built the
City Circle underground rail line in the 1920s".
Perhaps not a good example of speedy construction, Carl doesn't mention it
took about 35 years to complete (OK the Depression, WWII and a few other
problems slowed things up) - hope the Parramatta - Chatswood link is
somewhat faster. I think the controversial bridge over the Lane Cove River
will be a necessary evil, otherwise gradients on the Chatswood side would be
too severe. Anyway it will be nice for passengers on the trains to get a
bit of a view as they cross the river, a change from blank tunnel walls.
