Re: maths - OT (was: How long is a Chain?)

I am a maths teacher. I was referring to when I was at school in th early 1960s. Gd6
(Primary) was when all the calculation of imperial weights and measures was done. We
also had exams in Primary school then! And kids think it is hard to perform
arithmetic with base10. We also had to learn and convert all those other bases as
weel- you know : 16oz =1 pd; 14pd=1 st; 108pd=1cwt etc. Yes I did Yr12, but it was
the first year of metric.
