Speaking of NYE, AFAIK all sparks will be held at a Premium Station, at
00.00, and again at 01.00, because of Y2K paranoia. Why the sparks are to
be held at 00.00 is a bit of a mystery, as the Electricity Industry doesn't
run on Daylight Savings time, ('cause the time change is too hard for the
computers), so at 00.00 its really just 23.00 as far as the juice is
concerned. |-)

I'm also lead to believe there are contingency plans of some sort to cover
the 'what if' of no signal power but there is traction power. The basic
idea is that all points are clipped, and the flags are extracted...

Quite how the signal power can fail with the traction power still working
has got me baffled. They come from the same substations & feeders...

You know, this NYE is going to be such a let down, nothing will fail, and it
isn't even the end of the millennium... |-)
