That is a popular myth. It is true that in MANY parts of the metro area,
there are two (or more) signals at stop behind a train. It may be more
than two - maximum is 5, I think. But in many places it is only 1.
There is always an OVERLAP but the overlap may not be a full signal
section.
For instance stand on Eastwood down platform and observe when the
signals clear behind a train heading towards Epping, or stand at Gordon
and note that there may be only one signal at stop behind a train
standing at Killara.
