This is gleaned from "First Stop Central" (D R Keenan & H R Clark, AETA,
1963) ...

OLD platforms 18 & 19 electrified 1 Mar 1926 for opening of Oatley
electrification (diverted to new platforms 21 & 23 3 Oct 1926, to St. James
20 Dec 1926 after which old 16 - 19 were demolished and replaced by the
present Central Electric 16 - 19). (I *guess* that old 16 & 17 were never
electrified.)

    Platforms 14 & 15 electrified 24 Oct 1926 for Bankstown trains; used
for Homebush electrics from 27 Aug 1928, Parramatta electrics from 22 May
1929 (these diverted to Wynyard from 27 Feb 1932).

    Platforms 12 & 13 used by Liverpool electrics from 23 Sep 1929.

    Platforms 9 - 11 electrified late 1955.

    Platforms 1 - 8 electrified Dec 1957.

As far as I know, the tracks leading to platforms 5 - 8 are the "Suburban
(Yard)", the tracks leading to platforms 9 - 15 are still named "Bankstown".
After the Illawarra quadruplication in 1914, the former Illawarra lines
leading to platforms 9 - 14 were renamed "Bankstown" and the new Illawarra
(or East Illawarra?) lines led to platforms 15 - 19.
