I don't know anything about blown tubes.
The claim about it being the best boiler comes from the maintainence
crew at Thirlmere. They were all in agreement to this fact.
They were wanting to use the boiler to get 1301/8 running as a loopline
engine.
They didn't say it was in perfect condition but the best one out of the
3.
It could be that the others are in worse condition. I don't know because
i havn't crawled in to them.
