Although revalidation of Metcards are encouraged, but there are times when:

*  Tickets that have been folded, or slight damaged by customer;

* A customer is using several tickets for the journey (ie. travelling from
zone 3 to zone 1 and using a separate zone 3 and zone 1+2 tickets) and it is
not possible to revalidation of a ticket that does not cover the zone the
barrier gate is in;

*  A periodical ticket (ie. weekly or monthly) when the paper start to wear;

* The ticket has been rejected because it has not been revalidated at
origin station.
