We were heading toward the city. And apart from that, I think he had 
another person with him, because the train took off while he was still in 
the back cab then proceeded to walk through the train back to the front. 
The other problem with that would be (and this is the first time ive seen 
this rule NOT broken) that since he has no guard, he has to walk to the 
other end of the train to drive it in that direction. 

Though quite often you see drivers who overshoot platforms, just stick it 
in reverse and pull back. This practice does not seem too safe, just in 
case someone's fallen behind the train they have no hope.
