Re: Yellow two-car Harris thingy today
Hello,
The two car harris thing you saw is used as a rail greaser. As far as i
know, it's used on bends to help prevent rail/flange wear between the train
and the track. In the past it had a tait car tacked in the middle to grease
the overhead, but since Melbourne did some forward planning and implemented
carbon pans there has been no need for it any more. It's probably burning
away in someone's fireplace right now, or does anyone know if it was
stored?
No, youre a gunzel when you are compelled to get into the nearest available
car and start chasing it, no matter how hard it is (i.e. doing 160kph
through mountainous terrain, and you can still keep up with it :))
Only decent gunzelling experience ive had so far (owing to lack of licence,
lack of drivability of car) was chasing an A class on a Maryvale paper
train from Warragul to about the entrance at Maryvale APM. This also
involving taking off, off route to follow this electric thing hauling some
sort of train over a bridge in Moe, iirc.
The maddest gunzels have a tendency of having the wheels taken off their
car and obscene words written in stones on their bonnet :-) Others carry
around large human impersonating microphones.... But not to worry, none of
us here are them.... are we? :-)
Regards
Michael
(As much a gunzel as one can be when you have to rely on travelling the
same method as what youre chasing).
