Oh well, I just picked 1:50 out of my head since it sounded right. But 1:100
seems more correct. 8-)
When the runaway sirens and blue lights started going it was customary to
piroette around in 360 degrees to look for any high-speed lumps of metal
rolling your way! Shunter ballet is what some people called it.. 8-)
But everyone knew when something ran away - the boom was audible all the way
across the yard! And then, if it was during the day, the cloud of 'ash' as
it was called...
