Over the last 2 weeks I have noted a that some (more than ever) Kilmore East
Quarry trains have been running down the Broadmeadows line to Westall rather
than via Albion.
On Sunday and Monday night (25th and 26th) a G class and the regular 21
wagons have passed Essendon on down at approx. 23:07 fully loaded
A shorter train with T class loco also passed on down at approx 8:50am
20/4/99 fully loaded.
Others have also been noted.
These trains had only been seen infrequently (1 a month at most) in the
past.
Is this a commitment to a better schedule from the recently privatised
V/LINE FREIGHT?
These trains were under threat from 5 wagon trucks, a prototype photographed
during tests at Kilmore.
Will this become a regular occurrence?
Will the train continue at all?
You tell me/us?
