I don't know where you get that idea. LUL's 'old style' signalling is
strictly
2 aspect, red and green. They do have repeater signals, which serve as
distants,
but the positioning of these is dictated by the local geography. Repeaters
are
2 aspect yellow and green, referring to the next signal in advance. In some
locations, by coincidence, the repeater is located below a stop signal,
giving the appearance of a 4 aspect system, but they are not 4 aspect.

I believe that in these locations the repeater is not lit if the stop signal
is on, thus making it impossible for a train to approach a red/green
combination,
but Piers Connor is the expert on this and no doubt he'll answer.
