Bayside could always compete by building the often talked about and often
nothing done about line to East Doncaster via Shoppingtown (or Bulleen /
Templestowe). Whilst you would probably need to tunnel through the suburbs
and probably reopen the old inner circle and tunnel under Clifton Hill to
connect between the Upfield line and the freeway reservation set aside for a
railway, it shouldn't be impossible. Would probably take away much Hillside
business...8^)

Of course those of us who live to the west of Reservoir can choose between
the 15-20 minute Hillside Epping line peak hour service or the 20 minute
Bayside Upfield line service. Or do as I do and drive to work - the train
either way adds an hour to my half hour drive...sigh. Not to mention the
poor frequencies and poor connections with trains to East Camberwell.
