Locating and refitting motors would have cost a small fortune, probably
better spent on new railcars. The existing Budds could possibly have been
used as trailers, possibly driving trailers.

Actually, could standard loco controls have been fitted to one of the Budd
cars as a driving trailer for pusl-pull working? No need to run around.
