     Yes it is possible to fit EMD D77 traction motors to other non GM units
like AN did to the BU class slugs. This is not needed however as there is
nothing wrong with the GE761-ANR1 traction motors fitted to the ELs.
Consider this

Class      Traction motors   Engine        Tractive effort     Weight
EL         GE761-ANR1        GE7-FDL12     197KW               114T
2800 (QR)  GE761-ANR1        GE7-FDL12     266KW               116T

The difference is in the gearing of the traction motors.

P.S. I hear that QR may be interested in buying some of the stored ELs. Has
