A 422 would make a trip to Broken Hill on a full tank of fuel. They regularly ran to Griffith and return, a total distance of approx.1230 kms without fueling. I believe they have a fuel tank similar in size to an X class which holds around 6800 litres giving it a range of around 1600kms + at full load.
