Re: Irresponsible Photojournalism

:There is a similar thread in one of the American newsgroups about an
:article in a radio ham magazine conducting a "fox hunt" (searching for
:hidden transmitters). One was hidden in grass near a railway line, and one
:compeditor described driving down the tracks to find it.

Having been involved in fox hunting (the radio variety) before, i know only
too well of this. Of the three or four times i had been fox hunting, the
hidden transmitters were hidden somewhere near a railway. In the first
instance as far as i remember it was East Camberwell station, hidden in the
bushes near the island platform, in a place that could only be accessed by
railway track. The other time was along side the Lilydale line, at the Melba
Ave level crossing. In this one a 4WD (typical) did drive ON the railway
line for a small distance, but did get told off by the event organiser
because it was dangerous and foolish. The thing with fox hunting though, is
that people take it seriously therefore are extremely competitive and will
do stupid things to be the first to make it to the hidden transmitter. There
was also one instance it was hidden under the Mordialloc Ck bridge as well,
but it wasnt in a spot where you had to walk/run across/along the railway
line.

Kind Regards,
Michael Kurkowski.
