There's no comparison because RRT2 is far more developed.  The basic
gameplay is a little similar, but the RRT2 only deals with trains - unlike
TTD, trucks/busses/planes aren't a big part of the game.  RRT2 has
incredible graphic detail - and requires a much more powerful machine to run
it.  It's also a true 32 bit game - unlike TTD which was more a DOS based
game.

Honest, it's mindblowing what the developers have done considering the
graphical and Artificial Intelligence aspects of the simulation, and what's
best is that the work they have put in went into a simulation about nothing
other than trains!
