 The main difference , especially with the driving trailer, would be that
the Outers have 2x2 reversable seating, where as a suburban set has 2x3
fixed seating.
 The vestibule also has luggage racks and the cars are fitted with door
open buttons. (Which I assume would just plain not work when coupled
with a suburban set).

 In a full outer set one of the non control motor cars has a toilet compartment
at one end.

 One Outer set was fitted the AC traction motors, other than that they
are just a suburban tangara with better internal fitout.
