Has anyone got any further information on a ex NSWGR bogie flat wagon L288.
This wagon is currently preserved by the RVRM at Richmond Main & was purchased
by them 1979/80.
The known details of wagon is as follows; steel underframe, wooden deck,
wooden heastocks, 22 inch buffers & hook drawgear, early wooden bolstered
diamond frame type bogies. Measured dimensions are; 32ft 9in over headstocks,
21ft 3in bogie centres & 5ft 7in bogie wheelbase. It carries an early Clyde
Engineering builder's plate.
A check of the wagon cards at SRA archives showed L288 to be the underframe
off a 'Redfern' car, I doubt this though. The wagon does carry a pressed
metal numberplate instead of the older cast iron type so prehaps the flat
wagon took the number of the redfern car.
Thanks
