Depends on the station: Most stations are like what you said above. 
Blacktown is pretty direct with its announcements, but Granville and
Hurstville actually announce EVERY station it stops at (with a few exceptions
at Granville - it doesn't seem to be able to "grab" the sound bytes for
Tallong and Zig Zag). Both stations have exceptionally clear announcements
but of course tend to be long in the case of South Coast services from
Hurstville and Mountains services from Granville.
