They're not part of a PC, but they are the 'front-end' of the Train
Management System (referred to as the 'TMS') that's part of every Tangara
car.

The TMS is the driver's interface into the electronic control system of the
trains, but it's not needed to drive the train. If the TMS fails in any one
car, the train can still be worked since the driving controls are seperate
from the actual TMS electronics.

The one bugbear at present is that the train radio system on Tangara's does
not have a seperate control head like all other trains do, so if the
driver's display in the leading car is faulty, or switched off, there is no
access to the train radio system.

Regards,

Craig.
