Sorry for being such an Ignorant Melbournian, but WHAT THE HELL IS A U-BOAT?

Single deck stainless steel EMUs I believe, called that because the set designators were all U ##. Used mostly on interurban services (which mught have had something to do with the "u"). Built in the 50s I think for the Gosford and Lithgow electrifications.

So there you have it. A U-boat is an EMU!
