Err... the lack of electrified train line running past the end of suburbia
nowadays could be a small issue. Any new operator probably wouldn't pay for
electrification or if they do, only under sufferance. Unless you are
suggesting diesel versions but where would you put the motive power in a 4D?
Cheaper to hire old railcars from somewhere (eg old railcars or even say
S.A. who would probably happily cut their own suburban rail services if need
be to supply you with all you need as long as you pay cash. Any excuse
really from all the bad publicity I seem to read in T.A. about T.A.
Alternatively I am sure NSW have some old railcars left over.) and run those
into the ground for the next 7-15 years depending on the terms of the
franchise from the government.
