I think that this was the old railway line from Albury to Old
Talangatta. Old Talangatta was submerged under the waters of the Hume
dam. A population of a few hundred maybe more lived there and were
relocated to higher ground. There is a modern town of Talangatta noted
for some great cheese production. There is probably an alternative train
line into new Talangatta. During some droughts remnants of the old town
resurface.
