Re: Cadia Mine

The Cadia mine is located about 27km south east of Orange and is owned by
Newcrest. The mine is going to produce about 90,000 tonnes of copper/gold
concentrate per year. The concentrate will be transported from Cadia to
Blayney in a pipeline, and from Blayney to either Newcastle or Port Kembla by
rail. Using the Northparkes ore train as a comparison (about 1400 tonnes
concentrate per trainload), this would equate to just over 1 train per week.
Concentrate production should start soon but shipment of concentrate may not
happen until later this year. Cadia was approved with a mine life of 13
years but this will almost certainly be extended given continued discoveries
of ore.

Michael.
