As introduced in 1952, the class was known as the 1210 class numbering
from 1210 - 19.

In 1956, three new units were built and the class was then renumbered
as the 1300 class, and finally in 1965, became the 1250 class. These
locos were known as "Yanks". The loco in Hereberton is a "paw paw" of
the 1170 class.
