Timetable for opening of Robina train line on Sunday 31 May 98

Here is the timetable for the opening of the Gold Coast railway extension
to Robina on Sunday 31 May 98.

A family fun day will be held at Robina between 9am and 4pm.  It will 
begin with a breakfast followed by the official opening by the Queensland
Premier Rob Borbidge at 9.30am.  On-going entertainment will be provided
by Queensland Rail and Gold Coast theme parks such as competitions, free
amusement rides, street performers and an outside radio broadcast.

A free rail shuttle service will run between Robina and Nerang on Sunday
31 May with regular rail services beginning between Robina and Brisbane
from Monday 1 June.

The special shuttle services operated by two 6 car IMU sets (run nos.
1F01 and 1F02) will commence from Robina after the official opening
ceremony and operate until 4pm.  1F01 and 1F02 will run as directed
by control.

To effect a prompt turn around at Nerang a driver will be positioned at
Nerang to board the rear cab of incoming shuttle trains from Robina and
work the train back to Robina.

A diesel engine will be placed in the stabling area at Robina as an
emergency locomotive.  It will run light engine from Mayne Diesel Shed.
The diesel and two 6 car IMU trains to be used on the shuttles will run
from Mayne as follows:

After the shuttles have finished 1F01 will return empty to Mayne as 
20E1 at 4.25pm and 1F02 will stable at Robina.

At Robina 5 x 3 car IMU units and Diesel loco will stable at Robina
overnight Sun 31 May to Mon 1 June.  The other 4 IMU units arrive Robina
as 1 x 3 car empty IMU set at 11.36pm after working 1G58 and 1 x 6 car
empty IMU set at 12.36am after working 1G60 passenger services from
Brisbane to Nerang.

The timetable for the Robina trains commencing Monday 1 June 98 is
already shown in the QR Citytrain timetable effective 16th December 1997.
