The signalman in Franklin St signal box could indicate shunts numbered 1 to
5 as well as a Q light (I think?) to indicate Queensberry St..

Shunt 1 was the crossover at the signalbox, while shunt 2 was at the next
crossover in Victoria Street. Shunt 3 was at the third crossover, just over
Bouverie St..

Shunt 4 was a tram length past shunt 3, whilst shunts 5 and 6 were on the
down line adjacent to shunt 3.

Shunt 6 did not have a light, this shunt was communicated to the drive as
he drew up adjacent to the box.

University crossover also was available for cars running very early.

All of this was reduced to just the two crossovers Queensberry Street and
University, because of the death of a passenger who was illegally trying to
board a tram as it left a shunt in Victoria Street!
