Friday 12 June, 1998 (8:27am AEST)
Up to $4 million damage has been caused to a luxury rail carriage on
the Indian Pacific.
The carriage was parked at the Keswick Rail Yards in Adelaide,
awaiting its departure tonight.
A passing security guard noticed smoke pouring from the ceiling of the
carriage.
Eight firefighters using breathing equipment took an hour to control
the blaze.
Bill Dwyer, from the Metropolitan Fire Service, says investigators are
still trying to determine the cause.
