Why not just the TGV?

If the Maglev is going to cause so many problems around the Sydney area and
is not compatible with the current system, and the Darwin - Melbourne link,
why not just use a TGV via Wollongong.

Why can't the TGV just run down to Wollongong from Moss Vale and up to
Sydney from there? Doing this would save billions of dollars as the
Melbourne and Brisbane links would only need upgrading and the Melbourne -
Darwin link could link in, not requiring any more track upgrading from
Canberra or Goulburn to Sydney.

The Speedrail project costs $2billion less for 20 minutes extra travelling
time - which is still less than half the current time. How would the fares
of Maglev compete? From Canberra to Sydney return is $81 - they're
proposing $110, and from Wollongong to Sydney is $16. On the Maglev link
Sydney to Wollongong is half the trip - $50 compared to $16.

Where would they put the Maglev from Sydney to Parramatta? There is already
rail and a highway and motorway, isn't this enough.
