Melbourne to Darwin

I'm sure Douglas MacArthur would not agree with Paul Dibb.  However I would agree with Dibb in todays regional political climate.  Nevertheless, should the situation to our north radically change a rail line to Darwin for the rapid movement of military resources would be desirable.  Dibb probably realised that there was no money to build it and the political threat didn't justify it. There are even less economic grounds!
