I was too young when the line closed to have taken a lot of notice of
the details.
The suburban line ended at Thomastown, and I remember announcements at
Princes Bridge for Thomastown trains connecting with the Whittlesea rail
motor. (I think it was a DERM.) The Thomastown trains all ran via
Clifton Hill in the usual way.
There was a goods train, but I don't know how often it ran, but again, I
think it ran via Clifton Hill, as I often remember seeing a goods train
on the middle line at Clifton Hill, and it didn't appear at Rosanna,
where I lived. I only used to see the weekly (Tuesdays?) Mont Park
goods pass through Rosanna.
