Internal sources have been talking about a $2M loss so far for the Great
Southern Railway.  The second Ghan is well behind cost recovery. Cost
are going to blow out even more now that GSR lost a court battle with
the Transport Union for under paying the staff, back pays have been
ordered. Part of the problem may even lie with their call centre, all I
wanted was a return ticket to Melb and waited 19 minutes on hold, just
about as long as one would have to wait in line at the booking counter
before the train goes. Well at least the air conditioning was working
the other day.
