Never say never again!

And they said V/Line S class are not to lead in Victoria!

Sunday 18 January 1998 saw S307 lead T371 and X54 on 9553, the down
Long Island steel train. They left NRC steelyard about 30 early, but
were held at Moorabbin for 45 minutes. The up steel train, 9558
arrived into NRC Steel terminal at 1645 hauled by
X54+T371+S307+X53+T374+X52.

X54+T371+S307 were last seen returning to Dynon Loco at 1710.

The S was pressed into service at short notice after the failure of a
regular X class. The S apparently performed well, although the
vigilance control was over-active.
