GSR-Adelaide

Shock horror-spotted on the Overland this week was 'The Club Car'.
Could this be a mistake? 1st class passengers are finally gatting what
they paid for!
How long will this last? Looks like it's slowly going to back the way it
was. Did AN
have it right and is the almighty GSR slowly going back to where the
system was when
it was run by the Govt.(service not profit)
Speaking of profit, early speculation has it that the figures are not as
good as what they
expected, money wise that is. GSR is not too impressed with Serco in a
few areas of
the operation of GSR. Staff are still leaving for better paid jobs
elsewhere. Sometime mid January the Public Transport Union will have
their day in Indutrial court re wages and conditions for on-board train
staff, apparently the
union is in a strong position to win this one.
Although unconfirmed rumour has it that Serco is having unofficial
talks with the State Govt re the operation of Trans Adelaide (Metro
trains) for a take over. The State Govt. will have to play this one low
key as they very nearly lost the last state election over too
much privatisation.
