I would just like to add my thoughts:

I agree about all machines taking notes and on trams having dailies.

They have Rail +2 and Metcard 10. When will these work?

At Ringwood they now have the Barriers set to In or Out. The only
bi-directional ones are the "Other Tickets".

I have bought a 123 Daily Ticket but, Ringwood is a short Bus (National) trip
away. So I can validate it.

The design of the machine is in 4 steps. Ticket type (ie Daily, 2 Hour, Weekly
etc.). Zone(s). Full or Half fare. and pay for it.
I have watched quite a few people use the machines. First the select the
Zone(s) (Step 2), Then the ticket type (Step 1) and then Full or Half (Step 3)
then pay (step 4). I have also seen some people try to pay first. At least in
the design they made it so the first 3 steps can be in any order.

Also on the design of the machine. When standing close to the machine you can't
tell where the ticket comes from, the money goes. I noticed they have stickers
on some big machines next to the Card slot saying "No Coins Here". They should
have also made the machine buttons of the stations. ie in Zone 3 have on zone 1
only or zone 2 only or zone 1+2 only. Instead you get "Zone not available" and
on zone 1 machines remove the "off peek saver"
